Meet the San Francisco Team Behind Birchbark Roofing San Francisco
Birchbark Roofing San Francisco runs on a simple idea: the people who show up at your door should be the same people you’d trust to watch your house while you’re away. Our crew is small on purpose. Every technician is background-checked, uniformed, and trained to treat your home the way they’d treat their own. We’ve worked on Victorians in Noe Valley, flat-roofed mid-centuries in the Sunset, and steep-pitched classics in Pacific Heights. What unites the team isn’t just roofing skill. It’s a shared annoyance at sloppy tear-offs, half-finished clean-ups, and prices that change once the job starts. None of that happens here.
Styles & brands we work with

Our People
Marcus T. – Lead Technician
Marcus has spent 14 years on San Francisco roofs, and he’s the person we send when a leak isn’t where the homeowner thinks it is. He holds GAF Master Elite certification and CertainTeed SELECT ShingleMaster credentials, which means he’s trained directly by the manufacturers whose materials we install. Marcus specializes in diagnosing valley leaks on older homes, the kind where water travels 15 feet from the actual entry point before it shows up on a bedroom ceiling. On weekends, he restores a 1967 Mustang in his garage in the Excelsior. If he tells you the roof needs another look before he quotes a price, it’s because he’d rather be right than fast.
Elena R. – Senior Installer
Elena has been with Birchbark Roofing San Francisco for eight years and leads most of our full replacement crews. She’s IKO certified and has a particular eye for flashing details around chimneys and skylights, the spots where most San Francisco roofs eventually fail. Elena grew up in the Outer Richmond and knows exactly how fog and salt air chew through underlayment faster than homeowners expect. She’s the one who makes sure shoe covers go on at the door, drop cloths run through the hallway, and every nail gets picked up with a magnet before we call a job done. When she’s not on a roof, she’s coaching her daughter’s soccer team at Rossi Park.
David K. – Service Coordinator
David is the voice you’ll hear when you call (831) 228-3330. He’s been answering phones in the trades for over a decade and genuinely believes no homeowner should ever reach a voicemail tree when water is coming through the ceiling. David schedules every estimate, confirms crew arrival windows, and makes sure you know exactly who will be on your property before the truck pulls up. He keeps a running list of which San Francisco neighborhoods have permit queue delays in a given month, which saves our customers real time. Outside work, David volunteers with a dog rescue in the Mission, which is probably why he always asks if pets will be home during the job.
Jordan P. – Apprentice
Jordan joined the Birchbark crew two years ago after finishing a roofing pre-apprenticeship program in Oakland. He’s working toward his own manufacturer certifications under Marcus and Elena, currently learning the finer points of torch-down roofing on the flat and low-slope homes that cover much of the western half of San Francisco. Jordan runs ground support on most jobs, keeping materials staged safely and the job site tidy. He’s meticulous about the small stuff: tarp placement before tear-off, gutter protection during clean-up, and making sure the photo of the finished clean-up actually shows the finished clean-up. Jordan grew up in Daly City and is the first person on-site most mornings, usually with coffee for the crew.
One Standard, Every Job
Every Birchbark location, including ours in San Francisco, operates on the same promises. A written price in dollars before any work starts. Drop cloths through the hallway, shoe covers at the door, pet-safe product choices where there’s a choice, and a photo of the completed clean-up before we leave. Our crew follows the C.A.R.E. values on every job: clean up like it’s our own home, ask before we move or touch anything, respect your family’s time and quiet hours, and explain the price before the work. And because the job isn’t finished just because the last shingle is nailed down, the 365-Day Done Right Promise backs every repair and replacement we perform. If something isn’t right, we make it right. That’s a promise stamped on every job we do in San Francisco. It’s also what Erik Lindgren, our owner, expects from every person on this page.
