Question 1

Do you pull permits for roof replacements in San Francisco?

Accepted Answer

Yes. In San Francisco, a reroofing permit is required through the Department of Building Inspection, and Birchbark Roofing San Francisco handles the permit process as part of your project. Permits are one of the reasons our written price matters: the cost should be in there from the start, not added on at the end. Call (831) 228-3330 if you want to know what's required for your specific house.

Question 2

Will the price change once the roof comes off?

Accepted Answer

We work to give you a written price that covers the whole job before work begins, and we explain what happens if we find damage underneath the old roof. You'll know the plan before tear-off starts, and we don't surprise you with charges at the end. We put the price in writing for a reason.

Question 3

Can you match my existing roof color or material?

Accepted Answer

In most cases, yes. If you're repairing a section rather than replacing the whole roof, we'll match what's there as closely as the current market allows, whether that's a GAF architectural shingle, a CertainTeed color blend, or a specific tile profile. We'll tell you honestly if an exact match isn't possible, and we'll show you the closest options before ordering anything.

Question 4

My roof is leaking. What should I do before you arrive?

Accepted Answer

If water is coming into your house, put a bucket or towel down to protect the floor and move anything valuable out of the way. If you can see where the water is entering from inside the attic, note that spot so we can find it faster. Don't go up onto the roof yourself, especially if it's wet or steep. Call (831) 228-3330 and our coordinator will get your information to the local team, who can often have a tarp or temporary cover in place that same day during our regular hours.
