What San Francisco Homeowners Say About Birchbark Roofing San Francisco
Reviews tell you what a contract can’t: whether the crew showed up on time, protected the floors, and left the property cleaner than they found it. We ask every customer in San Francisco to tell us straight how the job went, because that’s the only way we find out if we’re actually delivering on the 365-Day Done Right Promise. The comments below come from homeowners in neighborhoods across the city, from the Richmond to Bernal Heights. They’re unfiltered and specific, because roofs in San Francisco get tested hard by wind, fog, and salt air.
Recent Reviews
“The crew stripped two layers of old shingles off our Sunset District home and found rot under the sheathing near the chimney. Erik walked me through exactly what the repair involved before touching anything, and the written price from the first estimate didn’t budge a dollar. The valley flashing that used to leak every January has stayed dry through two storms now.”
Marcy M., Outer Sunset
“We had a persistent leak over the stairwell after the winter rains, and two other companies told us the whole roof needed to go. Birchbark found the actual problem: a cracked pipe boot and three lifted shingles near the ridge. They fixed it the same week for a few hundred dollars instead of twenty grand. That honesty earned a customer for life.”
Andres R., Glen Park
“What got me was the care. Shoe covers at the front door, drop cloths through the hallway, and the guys asked before moving my potted plants off the back deck. We have a nervous dog who hates strangers, and the crew coordinated the door schedule with me so she stayed calm the whole time. When they left, Erik sent me a photo of the cleaned-up yard.”
Allison S., Noe Valley
“Full tear-off and replacement on our 1920s Spanish Revival in the Mission. The old clay tile was shot, and the bid from Birchbark was the only one that broke down materials, disposal, and labor line by line. They used CertainTeed synthetic underlayment and walked us through why it made sense for our roof pitch. The final inspection passed with zero punch-list items.”
Eduardo F., Mission District
“Our roof started dripping into the bedroom ceiling at 11 on a Sunday night. I called the number and a real person answered, talked me through putting a tarp over the affected area, and had a crew out first thing Monday. The repair on the flat section over the back addition has held up through a full fog season. That’s the difference between a company that answers the phone and one that doesn’t.”
Marcy M., Richmond District
“I manage a four-unit building near Ocean Beach, so I’ve dealt with roofing contractors before. Birchbark is the first one that gave me a written price and then stuck to it. They identified that our recurring leak at the parapet wall needed proper counterflashing, not another coat of tar. The crew was uniformed, background-checked, and I knew every name before they got out of the truck.”
